Baby Boom Update Up that tally by 2, from nine to eleven. 11 women I know are going to bring life into this world, InsyaAllah. 9 of them first time mummies. Oh how I share their excitement, fears, exhilaration and anxiety. Good luck ladies! Love and prayers be with you! For the first time in 12 years, the girlfrens and I didn't even meet on Hari Raya. Met up with them last Tuesday. Like finally! Despite the heavy downpour, we made the effort after many failed attempts. Heh. It was a great. We should do that again soon.

An Incredible Tale? I often hear the sound of furniture being dragged from the unit above my in-laws. It occurs quite often, at any time of day, even in the wee hours of the night and always sounds like the same piece of furniture being dragged from the same point, for the same distance across the floor. It stops for half a second, as if manouevering thru an obstacle, and continue for another short distance. It can be loud enuf to jolt me out of my sleep at 2 or 3 am in the morning and leave me staring at the ceiling wondering 'don't these people ever sleep?' It doesn't seem to bother the hubby though, which is not surprising. He's a deep sleeper who rarely wakes up in the middle of the night. Not even to go pee. And when I did alert him to the sound one morning after subuh, he went like, "Alah normal lah tu." :/ And it doesn't seem to bother any of his family members either. My MIL said, "Oh they have teenage children and they probably sleep late." Well even so, Hello~! some consideration here please. You don't have to drag your chair or table in the middle of the night, do you...? A chat with one of my SILs suggests that it could be the work of a supernatural kind. You know? I'll leave it to your imagination as I am in no place to talk about it. Or rather, I do not want to discuss it. Only God knows what goes on up there. Heh. Reminds me of Az's and Sai's hostel back at NTU. They keep hearing furniture being moved above them in the middle of the night. But they're on the top-most unit what! :P Lucky for me, did not experience anything of that sort when I was staying at the hostel. Though what happened to my roomie left my hair standing on end and it didn't help that she hurried off to home that night, leaving me all alone! Haha.. such memories... For now, I've gotten quite used to the sound when I stay over at my in-laws and it doesn't bother me as much as before. Like the rest of the family, I've been immuned.

The new abode. Finally, we got these last month... Reno has just started. So chances of us moving in before the end of the year is slim. We'll just have to do it slowly early next year no matter how busy it will get. Truth is, we're tired of acting like nomads. 1 week here, 1 week there. Carrying bags like we go on mini holiday every weekend. We even lost track of where our things are. Is it here, or there? And we end up shuttling between the 2 every other day. At least with our own place, things might be more organised. While the whole idea of having our own place and being independent is exciting as it is, it's kind of scary just thinking about it too. For me at least. Have always depended on mum for a lot of things. Things were a bit tense when she had not understood why we had to find a place so fast. And so far from her. After explaining, I'm glad she understands now. A mum's blessing is so very important, right? I love her to bits.

Random updates So since the SG Idol entry, I haven't been updating (does anybody care Marleena?? hah). Reason being, sheer laziness. A lot has happened since. So this entry will not be as organised as I want it to be. It'll be random rambles. Some with no beginning and some with no ending. First up, its the holidays! So while the normal working Singaporeans are out working, my fellow comrades and myself welcome this break. I'm not saying we don't have work to do during the hols ok, cos we actually do! But it's more relaxing lah. No need to wake up so early. No need to scream our throats out. No stacks of books and worksheets to mark. The workstation is all cleaned up and looks decent to work on finally. And while a normal working Singaporean was out working, myself and Mak took Amir out to town, just like we did the same time last year. Only now he's much bigger and would prefer to run havoc on his own rather than being carried. And this time at least he'll sit down and devour a KFC chicken together with us instead of making me gorge down my meal before he demands to be carried. And on another day, when the normal working Singaporean was out working (I bet some of you want to strangle me right now), I did some spying on some salesgirls in a shopping ctr at a neighbouring country. I was appalled by their unprofessionalism. To sum it up, these were 2 incidents which happened; 1) Mum and myself was browsing for some clothes in the ladies department. In the middle of it all, a young salesgirl was just standing there staring at the floor sobbing while a superior was either reprimanding her or perhaps comforting her. In the middle of the department store where everybody can see. For a good 20 minutes I think. Can't they do it inside the storeroom, or maybe the staffroom or the pantry? Away from the public eye? Totally uncalled for. It makes us, the customers, awkward just looking at them. 2) Then in another corner of the department store (away from the crying girl), mum wanted to look for a pair of black pants for herself on a row of shelf. She needed help finding her size. The only salesgirl around was standing at the row behind us, resting her chin on the shelf and staring into space. ??!!? We got her attention and she reluctantly came over. Mum asked if there were such and such a size for the pants. You would think the girl would proceed to look through the pants for you or maybe check somewhere else, or maybe tell you 'Oh that size is no longer in stock' or something like that. However, we simply got a "Oh everything is on the shelf" and she walked away and disappeared lah!! How absurd right?? No other salesgirl around within a 50m radius from us. 15 minutes later, Mum was still looking for her size, and we saw that girl I bet we don't see that here, do we? Sometimes we get salesgirls who follow us around and it irritates us. They should try the "4 Million Smiles" or "Service begins with me" campaigns if you ask me. Dah lah, I'm tired of typing. I bet you're tired of my ramblings. Fact is, theres still so much to write. Perhaps I'll leave it till later. Oh and you know what I heard? There's going to be a baby boom in 2007. Believe me. Its true! At least 9 people I know are expecting. 7 of them teachers. So MOE, better get ready your best relief, adjunct, contract or whatever kind of teachers you have to replace those teachers going on leave next year, ok? |
