Who has my vote? Oh gosh I really don't know!! On one hand, Jon was the one and only person I spent my 60cents on during the piano show. Donno why, but I liked him the moment I heard him sing. Then, between him and Hady, I think he's the more 'people person' and he's more eloquent. I'm sure he'll make a good ambassador for Singapore. I know Hady has got talent, even way during our TP days when he was only known as Mirzahady. But he is THE Hady now, who is so versatile he could sing anything. I admit he sings a little better than Jon. When Jon sang that Give Me Wings song, I was thinking that last year's I Dream was so much better. But when Hady sang it, I was like, Wah.. this song very nice ah! Furthermore, not that i want to sound like a racist or anything, I would vote for Hady cause I'd be so glad if a fellow Malay can make our community proud once in a while. They're both so good. Can't really tell how the results will go tonight, its making ME nervous. I can't vote for the BOTH of them like I did in one of the Spectacular shows. It defeats the purpose. I had my mind set on Jon before the Finals show. But now I really don't know. Perhaps I will just save my 60 cents and leave it to the rest. Whatever happens, happens. It really doesn't matter. But I'm itching to just vote for at least one of them. Just one vote. If I vote so many times for one of them, I will feel guilty towards the other. Question is, which one???

Newfound motivation. I've found some kind of motivation to do markings now. I indicate where my red ink level is before I start marking and watch where it has dropped once I finish every set of worksheet or workbook. I look forward to knowing how much ink I've used. It shows how much work I did. Haha. I like doing that. It gives me a wierd sense of satisfaction. The red pen is my bestfriend. Right about now you must be thinking that I've gone mad, right?? Haha. Its the sheer pressure of having to finish the syllabus when exams are in slightly a little more than a month. I still have a lot to cover. And my darlings are not exactly sponges. They're more like 'insert whatever things that don't absorb much yet leak out plenty'. Labels: work

A Teacher's Day Entry No, this entry is not to talk about how my 2nd Teacher's Day was. Although, it was a great day of course.... while it lasted. Hehe... This entry is to reminisce Teacher's Day of 1996. Of the time when I was at the giving instead of the receiving end. Of a time 10 years ago. A time when I just wished I could grow up fast and get out of school real quick to earn my own big bucks. Without knowing that 10 years down the road I'd be wanting to give anything just to get a glimpse of the life that went way too fast. It was our graduating year that year, thus the significance of Teacher's Day was greater. We thought we'd do something meaningful for Cikgu Alamdin, our Malay teacher. Those who were ever in TK, pre-1997, would know how old the school buildings were then, having been there since the post-war years. That year, our Malay class was on the 2nd floor (which was the top most floor of one of the old buildings), in a really discreet corner next to the gym (yeaahh rite, its a gym.. :P). You'd never know there was actually a classroom there till you came closer. It was like tucked behind another room. The place was dark, it was dusty and it was stuffy. Almost like a storeroom. But because it was the only 'functioning' class in that building, it was nice and quiet. Almost tranquil. It was no wonder why Cikgu spends almost all his working hours in there. He had this small table fan which he really relied on to keep him cool. But we could see that it did nothing much to cool him. So that year, we pooled our money to buy him a new and bigger fan for Teacher's Day. We didn't give it to him immediately when we came for class that day. We just had to be dramatic first. And we got my best bud, to be the scapegoat. She was tasked to just knock the old fan off the table to see what Cikgu's reaction was. But tugged at the wires she did, and down went the fan at full force, it literally broke into pieces!! She did not just shock Cikgu, but she shocked us all, even herself! There was this 2 seconds of shocking silence before Cikgu went ballistic. Thinking back, it was actually so hilarious!! He was pleasantly surprised when we revealed his gift later and we could see that he heaved a huge sigh of relief. He had a good laugh after that. Such a great feeling to know that you made someone's day, in more ways than one. Thats us posing with the new fan. The poor girl who got a lashing for breaking Cikgu's old fan is not in the picture cos she was the camerawoman. But because she's my best bud and all, its only fair that I have her picture in this entry. In our old school days groupie pic of course. I know some of them are going to screaammm at me for putting this up. For which I say, "I love you girls!!" hehehehe.. Those were the days.... Memories of TK will forever be etched deep within our hearts. Its a great school. How not to be? Both its ex P and VP are now sitting very very high up the MOE corporate ladder... And all the ex-students are not doing too bad either ... ;) And with that, I end my entry. Happy Teacher's Day everyone!! (Yes, we are all teachers in one way or another.) |
